- Description: Lex-Connect is a subsidized taxi voucher program available to Lexington residents who are age 60 and up. Younger residents may qualify in very limited cases, subject to approval by Human Services staff. Lex-Connect is intended as a safety-net service to fill gaps in transportation, not as a primary mode of getting around. Participants must be able to get in and out of a taxi unassisted.
To sign up:
Bring your proof of age and proof of Lexington residency (such as your driver’s license or state ID) to the Lexington Community Center. You will fill out a one-page form and a member of the Transportation Services department will check your ID. You can buy vouchers at the same time, or wait until later. Participants must be able to enter and exit a vehicle unassisted. Taxis are not wheelchair accessible.
Transportation Services is staffed Mon-Fri 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Vouchers:
Participants must complete sign up prior to first purchase. Vouchers will not be sent without a completed application on file.
Vouchers cost $5 each and seniors can buy a maximum of 12 vouchers per month. Vouchers do not expire. Trips cost 1 to 3 vouchers ($5 to $15) each way, plus an optional tip of $1 to $3. Participants can buy vouchers online, in person at the Lexington Community Center, or by mailing a check payable to the Town of Lexington to: Town of Lexington Participants must complete sign up prior to first purchase. To Request a Ride:
To request a ride call Checker Cab of Woburn at 781-935-1121. Lex-Connect rides must be scheduled a day in advance. Vouchers can be used Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday through Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm. Tell the dispatcher if you don’t know what time you will need a ride back – you will be able to call them for the return ride when your appointment is over.
