- Description: “FRTA Transportation: The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA), is a public organization providing transportation throughout Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden and Worcester Counties. The Southwick Council on Aging has a contractual agreement with the FRTA and provides demand/response transportation to consumers currently living in a nursing home facility or Veterans with a disability rating of 70% of greater and residents who are 60 years of age or older and reside in Southwick. FRTA also provide rides for those who are under 60 if they qualify for Masshealth or ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) transportation. The under 60 individual should contact the FRTA at 413-774-2262 ext. 0 for information on how to apply for Masshealth and/or ADA transportation.FARES: All one way trips that originate and end within the same town: $1.25 All one way trips to an adjacent town that are within our service: $1.75 All one way trips beyond an adjacent town that are within our service: $2.25 All one way trips to Senior Centers are $1.00 (in town trips), $1.25 (adjacent town trips) and $1.50 (beyond adjacent town trips) There is an escort/PCA fee of $.75 for each one-way trip and they must be there to assist the passenger with the trip (not there to do their own errands).SERVICE:Mondays and Thursdays Transportation is provided between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. Transportation is also provided to Springfield on these days. You must be done with your Springfield appointment by 3:00 pm. Local appointments need to be finished by 3:30 pm. Tuesday – 8:30a.m. -2:00p.m. Shopping in Westfield. Medicals may be fit according to schedule. Must be finished by 1:30p.m. Wednesday – 8:30a.m-4:00p.m. Shopping in Westfield. Medicals may be fit according to schedule. Must be finished by 1:30p.m.Fridays Shopping in Southwick between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm. You must be finished with your appointment by 1:30 pm.
