- Description: The Tewksbury Council on Aging provides transportation for in-town errands and local medical appointments for town residents 60 years of age and older. They also provide a weekly shopping trip Friday mornings to Market Basket and another Wednesday morning trip to the Wilmington Shopping Plaza. Two Market Basket trips available Friday mornings. You will be assigned to Stadium or Oakdale plaza based on the location of your home address. Strict two bag limit, must be able to carry your own groceries.
In-Town Rides: In-Town Errands/Medical Appointments available Monday through Thursday. $2 each way. Friday: Market Basket Trip
Out-of-Town Rides: Out-of-Town Medical Appointments available on certain days, $3 each way. Tuesdays: Lowell. Wednesdays: Chelmsford, Wilmington and Lahey Clinic in Burlington as availability allows
Long Distance Trips: Ex: trips to Boston, with the help of our friends at the Dracut COA. Cost varies based on destination. Appointments should be made between 11 am and 1 pm (Will require a 1-month notice).
Transportation service is “curb-to-curb”, meaning riders must be mobile and have the ability to walk/propel to the van when parked street-side. The driver cannot offer “hands-on” assistance, however, a personal assistant may accompany a rider should they require help. Companions ride free of charge. Please be advised that 3 incidents (such as last-minute cancellations without sufficient notice) will result in termination of transportation privileges.
