- Description: FISH, a volunteer service, is an acronym for Friends in Service Helping. The group provides rides for elderly residents who cannot drive to medical appointments. FISH services Mattapoisett residents with help getting to medical appointments from home to Wareham, Marion, Fairhaven, New Bedford and Dartmouth. For more information, call the Mattapoisett Council on Aging at 508-758-4110. This service is free of charge and donations/tips are not accepted. Non-ambulatory seniors, or those who need additional assistance, will be driven by the Mattapoisett COA. All appointment requests MUST be made no later than 2 business days in advance; a week in advance is preferred. If transportation occurs with a COA van, a small donation is requested to help with the costs of fuel, van maintenance and driver rate. Last Updated: October 2022
