- Description: Flex Service is a program designed to help serve the unmet mobility needs of communities across Rhode Island. Flex Service, which is short for Flexible Service, offers passengers the option of calling a ride or picking up the Flex Vehicle at one of its regularly scheduled Flex Stops. RIPTA Flex Service for South Aquidneck The FlexVan makes regularly scheduled stops at three convenient locations: Newport Gateway, Easton’s Beach, and Newport Green (Bus shelter at Rose St. & Carroll Ave.). Riders can board the FlexVan at these stops at the times shown below without a reservation. Once on board, you can request to stop anywhere within the FlexZone. Please note, although you can hop on the FlexVan at a FlexStop without a reservation, you must call 48 hours in advance to schedule a return trip. FARES: Full Fare: $2.00 Half Fare (see below): $1.00 Low-income persons with a disability or age 65 and above may ride free of charge with a RIPTA No Fare ID Pass. All other persons age 65 and above, or with a disability pay full fare during RIPTA peak hours of service (7 am – 9 am and 3 pm – 6 pm) on weekdays and pay 1/2 fare all other time upon presentation of a RIPTA Senior/Disabled ID Pass or a Medicare ID Card.
